The 179 passengers on board an Air India flight from Bengaluru to Kochi experienced moments of horror on Saturday night when one of the plane’s engines caught fire eight minutes after take-off. Due to the fire, the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing.
It is noted that the plane took off more than an hour late compared to the scheduled time, while after taking off from the runway it was engulfed in flames. When the plane returned to Bengaluru airport, the crew asked passengers to remain seated saying “everything is under control”.
The fire was eventually put out by the airport’s fire engines with Air India announcing an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
